For another $200 I could have bought a brand new one, but to tell you the truth, I think my old one is just as good for less than half the money. I had quite a bit of money in it with the new printhead and new ink cartridges, but I really like the way it prints and I am familar with it. I also put brand new ink in the printer, I was just afraid of clogging it up again with the old ink. I think the printhead was 70 some dollars from HP. I finally broke down and just bought a new printhead. I'm sure all the techies are cringing right now.but I figured I didn't have a thing to lose and I did get to print my documents. However, after sitting overnight, it wouldn't work again. I let it sit on my baseboard heater to dry it out, cleaned the contacts with alcohol and put it back in.īelieve it or not, it actually started working again. I finally became so frustrated with it, I took the print head out and soaked it in really hot water, I cleaned it completely out, probably took 6 or more washings to get it so the water was clean. I'm a little disappointed about that, but I like the printer.so.I sucked it up. I should note that this printer was four.that's 4 weeks out of warranty!!I checked the page count.692 pages. I've changed the Black Cartridge only twice since I bought the printer new and it was still half full according to the meter.ĮDIT***** I put a new printhead in and it works perfectly. Aligned Printer again.same thing.Alignment Failed.ĭoes anyone have any ideas? My printer is just over a year old and doesn't get used much. I unpluged the printer, waited for a couple minutes and plugged it back in. I ALIGNED the printer and received a message that said: Alignment failed. All the letters printed in black on the report and were of excellent quality. I ran a Print Quality Report and and everything was fine.except for the BLACK came out white again. I checked the ink meter and it indicated full. I installed a brand new ink cartridge.still a blank page. except that the block that was supposed to be BLACK was white. I went to the Settings, Tools, Print Quality Report. It appears as though the cartridge just ran out of ink. I tried to print again and it was almost totally faded on one half of the page and the rest was blank. I checked my ink meter and it indicated more than 1/2. Today I went to print a black and white document and it printed one side of the page while fading to blank on the other side. I've got a HP 7520 that's been a gem and hasn't had a single problem.

It is still just too useful when away from a more real computer to go without but it doesn’t really get to feed any data to anybody that wouldn’t be trivial to find in other ways. But de-googled is the preference, and I don’t really use it much, it gets off the desk pretty rarely. Now I still have a smartphone, as a way to stay in touch with folks is in the modern world rather required, and the web based messaging and calls are massive cheaper than SMS etc. Not as modern devices (including computers if you run Windoze) that want to phone home, shove ads at you and spy for good measure! The OS on those things was rather more truly just an OS, and everything works offline perfectly. All great stuff as a supplement to doing real work/learning (and with games if you wanted them too, which is great for those times the train gets delayed). When I was a kid I had some of the earliest pocket computers with phones in second hand and they were great, both a useful phone, handy calculator, camera that while not great was useful, the office type suit of programs that lets you look at (and edit if you are desperate) your files, web browsing when you need it. The personal information includes the latitude and longitude, as well as GPS, cell phone tower cell IDs and WiFi beacon data, which understandably has people rather upset. In part 2 of this series, the BM2 app is reverse-engineered, decompiling the Java code. Although the app’s information page claims that no personal information is collected, the data intercepted with Wireshark would beg to differ. It integrates a library called AMap which is “a leading provider of digital map in China” and part of Alibaba. Where things get unpleasant is with the Battery Monitor 2 (BM2) mobile app that accompanies the device. The device in question is a Bluetooth 4.0 Battery Monitor that is resold under many brands, and which by itself would seem to do just what it is said to do, from monitoring a battery to running crank tests. Yet as discovered during an analysis, many of these devices will happily pass your location and other information along to remote servers. After connecting them up to the battery, you download the accompanying app on your smartphone, open it up and like magic you can keep tabs on your precious pile of chemistry that keeps things ticking along. You’ll find YKK zippers on here, but they’re not AquaGuard like on the Tech Pack 2 and a lot of other Aer products-and we’re not upset about it. We expected it to be super robust, due to our other experiences with the material on other Aer bags, and we’re happy to report that it’s held up well so far in testing. This bag is made with classic Aer materials-which means an 840D nylon face finished with a PU (polyurethane) coating for durability and water-resistance, and 1680D CORDURA ballistic nylon throughout the rest of the pack. They blend in nicely with the surrounding material of the bag, which helps give it a clean look. There’s some subtle branding on here-you’ll see the Aer logo on a small tag on the bottom-right side of the bag, sewn into the back wall of the laptop compartment, and on the zipper pulls. The two also share a prevalent square shape-but this bag is slightly slimmer (and looks slightly less like a giant box on our back). And for us, it’s totally fine-similar to the Tech Pack 2, the black-on-black color scheme displays a sleek, minimal aesthetic. If you’re a fan of Aer, this shouldn’t be a surprise.
The problem with them is that your ammunition is limited so you can’t rely on them throughout all of the missions. The rest of the weapons are easier to use, and obviously more powerful. The touchy controls make this more difficult than it should already be. You have to time your fire just right and lead enemies when they’re further back. I found it disappointing that your shots move so slowly. Your primary weapon is the blaster pistol and it has unlimited ammunition. This holds especially true when they too fire projectiles at you. Turning Buck Bumble and aiming at nearby enemies is an exercise in frustration. The aiming reticule is too sensitive in my opinion. I was prepared for some slippery controls but not like this. Yes, I know, you’re playing as a bumblee here. The Nintendo 64 controller had only one analog stick which makes aiming difficult.Ĭontrols are too floaty for their own good. It wouldn’t be so bad except for the fact that the combat mechanics are pretty awkward by today’s standards. I found the game to annoyingly repetitious in this regard. So many areas of the game feature locked doors that open only when you’ve dispatched all foes. Despite the different objectives you’ll find that Buck Bumble often returns to the age old ‘defeat all enemies to proceed’ style of play. Other stages will have you destroying landmarks, and even escorting bombs from one section of a level to another without getting hit. Generally you’ll find your goal is to take out all enemies in any given area. The game takes place over several different missions that feature a variety of objectives. He’s part of the resistance force opposing the herd.Īs Buck Bumble you can fly through 3D space and perform a limited number of aerial acrobats. This is just one small step for them however as their ultimate goal is to rule the entire world with an iron fist (or stinger, if you will.) Buck Bumble is a bumblee outfitted with cybord technology, and he’s totally rad. Many of these have gathered together to form what is known as ‘the herd’ and are bent on destruction and taking over the garden area. This has caused the local insect population to mutate. This tells of a toxic chemical spill in London. The developers came up with an equally weird (and totally 90s) story here is told through a well done opening sequence. Argonaut definitely gets some points for originality. You play as a bee armed with various guns who flies through 3D areas shooting down other bugs. I’ll start by saying that Buck Bumble is a weird release. So what’s the verdict on this oddball shooter? Let’s dive in and take a look. Unfortunately it also came out at a time when developers were still struggling with how to handle 3D gameplay. This company had a pedigree when it came to shooters, and this was their first release on such capable hardware. Apparently this title, developed Argonaut Software, had a fair amount of hype behind it. Frankly I had never heard of it until long after the Nintendo 64 was retired and I began collecting for it. Buck Bumble is a game that I have absolutely no history with. It’s a cleanly designed unit with sturdy steel construction. Otherwise, it’s as simple as it gets, and you can manually trigger the door with a momentary press of the button to open or close at any time. It’s somewhat rudimentary, but it’s effective. Programming the unit is somewhat inconvenient since you push and hold the one button until it flashes, then again to confirm, at the actual time you want it to open or close. If you wish to set it to a schedule instead, you can. Out of the box, it’s programmed to open on sun-up and close on sun-down. The T50 was the simplest of all the test subjects. I then screwed the frame to the wall with the six included screws. I drilled the corners of my tracing and cut the hole with a jigsaw. Place the frame against the wall you’re installing it onto, and trace the inside of the frame. The installation of the T50 was very straightforward. Once the frame is installed on the coop, you power up the box and reattach it to the frame. The T50 comes assembled, but you do need to remove the control box via four screws. The gearing, battery, and electronics are all housed in the removable black box on the top of the frame. The door is driven with a gear that interfaces with the door directly. It features one multi-color LED indicator light and one lone momentary button. Run-Chicken is based out of Slovenia but markets to the U.S. The first test subject was the T50 automated chicken coop door from Run-Chicken. The T50 installed on my test wall Run-Chicken The following is my personal opinion and findings. There was no offering or guarantee of a favorable review. The manufacturers did not compensate me in any way. These companies sent me samples at no charge. I reached out to several companies I believe to be leaders in the space, and some replied.
